How Tap to Pay on Android works

Tap to Pay on Android turns most NFC-enabled Android phones into a contactless card reader. Your customer taps their card or mobile wallet on your device and the payment is processed through your own Stripe account.

It is the quickest way to start taking in-person card payments on Android — no reader to order, pair or keep charged. Perfect for selling on the move.

Requirements: Requires a compatible NFC-enabled Android device running a recent version of Android.

What you get

  • No card reader to buy, carry or charge
  • Accepts contactless cards, Google Pay, Apple Pay and digital wallets
  • Payments settle into your own Stripe account
  • Works on most modern NFC-enabled Android phones
